Beatrice
Dettori
Beatrice Dettori is a designer and artist who lives and works in Spain.
She graduated in Product Design from Chelsea College of Art and Design in 1999 and, after six years as a designer in Jasper Morrison’s studio, founded KOOK in Paris, dedicating herself to the world of gastronomy and events. During this period she created culinary scenography for internationally renowned artists, galleries and institutions, including Pierre Soulages, Larry Clark, Pierrette Bloch and Anish Kapoor. Since 2018 she has returned to artistic practice and work in the laboratory. Through familiar objects, narratives and clay sculptures such as her Grafemi, Beatrice Dettori investigates the concept of creation and its outcome, be it an artefact or an emotion. Her creations invite a physical and introspective experience, creating contrasts between standard and recovered materials, precious or symbolic materials.
This dissonant dialogue challenges conventions and questions the concepts of value and transmission, central elements of her research.
