Burton

Jack Burton is a multidisciplinary artist whose works can be broadly categorized as paintings but are deeply infused with elements of photography and collage. Drawing from diverse influences such as pop art, expressionism, abstract art, and street art, Burton creates dynamic compositions that blend these media into a single image. Within his works, the mediums compete for attention, disrupting traditional perceptions and expectations.

His art is characterized by a spontaneous and dreamlike quality, with elements arranged as if emerging from his subconscious or an absurd, fragmented dream. The resulting pieces are visually explosive and disorienting, transcending the limits of conventional painting and photography. Burton’s works evoke the overwhelming sensory experience of contemporary society, with its fast-moving, advertising-saturated, post-industrial landscape. Viewing his art can feel like a journey through the chaos of modern life, akin to racing through the environment aboard a high-speed train.

Born in Barry, South Wales, in 1988, Burton holds a BA in Fine Arts from Chelsea College of Art and Design and graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 2017. Recent exhibitions include: "BRICO JACK", 10n, Brussels, 2023 (solo exhibition); "Memory Place In Ruins", C-Lab, Taipei, 2023 (group exhibition); "Music For An Exhibition Vol.1", The Gimp, Berlin, 2022 (solo exhibition); "Long Distance Highway Hotel", Mauve, Vienna, 2022 (solo exhibition).
