Delanghe

Louise Delanghe is a painter whose work gracefully navigates the thresholds between art history and contemporary image-making. A graduate of KASK in Ghent, where she obtained her Master in Fine Arts with a focus on graphic design, Delanghe brings a deep awareness of visual language to her practice—merging classical techniques with experimental gestures.

Her paintings are layered and expressive, often created with oil paint, yet just as likely to incorporate household paints or unconventional materials. This friction between tradition and experimentation defines much of her work. Figures emerge and dissolve, compositions stretch between control and chaos, and narratives seem to fold in on themselves, leaving space for ambiguity. Her brushstrokes are deliberate but alive, bearing the trace of her physical engagement with the canvas: the motion of the elbow, the rhythm of the arm, the pressure of decision.

Delanghe’s work is rooted in a spirit of play and openness. She draws from the broad terrain of humanism, art history, and contemporary pop culture, crafting visual spaces where the banal meets the sublime. At once intuitive and deeply considered, her paintings create a realm in which echoes of the past coexist with the vivid contradictions of the present.
