Stacie

McCormick

Californian born, Stacie McCormick approaches painting as a direct confrontation. Developing a strong relationship with water from an early age, she sculpts with color using a wet-on-wet technique rather than building with brushwork. Harnessing experimental methods, that demand both intense physical and meditative practice, her layered works reveal ethereal spaces where depth and motion converge.

Following her MFA at City and Guilds of London Art School, she developed her distinctive approach through persistent studio exploration — creating a negotiation of control and chaos in the pursuit of mastering the accident.

Each painting represents a dialogue between intention and unpredictability. She must wait for materials to settle, allowing the work to reveal its final form. Only when she can consciously recreate what once happened by chance does she integrate these discoveries into her expanding visual language—perpetuating an ongoing process of artistic exploration and evolution.

Her artistic path has led to significant exhibitions, with her works featured at the Venice Biennale, MACO in Oaxaca, solo shows across London and Paris, and are held in prestigious collections around the world.
