Rudolph

German-born photojournalist Walter Rudolph spent much of his life traveling the world working with Thomson and Iberia to promote emerging holiday destinations during the tourism boom of the 1960s and 1970s. His photographs frequently appeared in travel brochures showcasing cities and idyllic getaways—work that took him across Eastern Asia, Africa, much of Europe, and of course the Balearic Islands.

In 1976 Rudolph visited Ibiza and Formentera, capturing the stirrings of tourism when the island still retained an untouched charm. His flair for the island’s beauty is mirrored in his archive, one which offers an authentic richness and evokes a deep nostalgia for the viewer. A collection which is a time capsule showcasing a pivotal moment in Ibiza’s cultural evolution.
