Benjamin

& Georges Pelletier

Georges Pelletier (b. 1938, Brussels) discovered a passion for ceramics at a young age. At 15, he moved to Paris to study at the École Nationale SupĂ©rieure d’Arts et MĂ©tiers and later trained in ceramics in Vence, France. Influenced by artists such as Raphael Giarrusso and Fernand LĂ©ger, he further developed his signature carving techniques while working with potters in Burgundy. In 1961, Pelletier opened his first Paris workshop and began selling ceramic lamps at the Saint-Ouen flea market. His work soon attracted Roche Bobois, leading to lighting collections produced between 1961 and 1973. Later, Pelletier collaborated with Maison Tournaire on a limited series of ceramic and precious-metal luminaires. In 1973, he opened a new workshop in Cannes, where he still works today. His ceramic lighting sculptures are now sought after by collectors worldwide.

Benjmain Pelletier (b. 1979, Paris) is a ceramic artist who was trained from a young age in his father Georges Pelletier's workshop. Fascinated by pottery, it felt quite natural for him to choose to continue the family legacy and preserve his father’s artistic vision. Since 1973, the workshop has produced unique ceramic 'sunlamps', which are at once sculpture and lamp. Glazes, perforations and goldwork constitute the signature aesthetic of the Pelletier tradition. The ceramic sculptures are worked up without the use of modern technology. In his work today, Benjamin preserves his father's work in every way, such as with his collaboration with Maison Tournaire for whom he produces the same pieces his father did. Each work reflects his passion for the craft and his pursuit of a harmonious composition – a constant tribute to his father’s legacy.
