Calvin Wang's creative practice focuses on the visual deconstruction of the mechanisms of the contemporary art market. This series of works explores the power structures embedded in the processes of art circulation, valuation, and discursive construction through the transformation and reorganization of formal language. Methodologically, he continues the critical appropriation of cultural symbols characteristic of Pop Art, transforming highly abstract concepts and terms from the daily operations of the art market into concrete visual subjects of study. Each work employs acrylic on wood as its medium, constructing a visual grammar that points to market logic through the emotional coding of colors, the rhetorical shaping of typography, and precise control over the materiality of the painted surface.
