Born in Lille, France in 1982 and now based on the Côte d’Azur, César Piette creates meticulously airbrushed paintings that merge the visual language of classical painting with the aesthetics of digital rendering, animation, and commercial imagery. Trained in graphic arts and design and formerly active as an illustrator for video games and publishing, Piette is known for his highly polished “hyperplastic” images that blur the boundaries between the virtual and the real. He has presented solo exhibitions including Render at the K11 Foundation, Shanghai (2024–25), Butterfly Paintings in New York (2023), Homework in London (2021), and exhibitions in Beijing and Antibes, France. His work has also been included in group exhibitions at institutions and venues such as the MACA Museum, Copenhagen, and CAC Meymac, France. Piette’s paintings have been featured in publications including Juxtapoz and L’Officiel Art, and his works are held in prominent private collections internationally.
