Cristobal
Ochoa
Cristóbal Ochoa, (Caracas, 1986), multidisciplinary artist. He studied Fine Arts with a specialization in sculpture at UNEARTE (but was unable to obtain his diploma for political reasons). He has developed a dynamic and diverse career, exploring different media such as painting, video art, performance and, especially, sculpture. His works have received important awards and are part of both public and private collections. Ochoa's work is characterized by addressing themes such as language, the body, the environment and exile, emphasizing the exploration of interiority, emptiness and processes of transformation in his more formal pieces. He uses metaphors related to the seabed, which since its inception has been a symbol of the subconscious, and that place where dreams, traumas and memories are harbored. His work has been internationally recognized and has been exhibited in countries such as China, South Korea, Colombia, England and France, where he lived for five years, deeply enriching his artistic vision and participating in various artistic residencies and institutional exhibitions in France. Currently, he has settled in Madrid, in the neighborhood of Carabanchel, where he has his studio and continues to develop his work with a committed approach rooted in his life experience and his constant creative exploration. Ochoa has recently been nominated for a prize awarded by the Nebrija University and has also been awarded a prize for his work.
