Fidalgo
Ela Fidalgo (Palma de Mallorca, 1993) is a textile artist whose practice explores emotion, vulnerability and the complexity of human behavior through fabric, embroidery, acrylics and wax. Moving beyond traditional academic approaches, she has developed a distinctive visual language where textiles become both material and metaphor, allowing intimacy, fragility and psychological tension to emerge through layered surfaces and tactile compositions.
Her figurative works combine naïve gestures with fragmented bodies, symbolic elements and stitched interventions that resemble emotional cartographies. The body occupies a central role within her practice, appearing as a space where memory, care, desire and conflict converge. Embracing imperfection as a vital force, Fidalgo understands error and spontaneity as essential conditions for creativity and transformation.
Through sewing, painting and assembling materials, she constructs works that oscillate between softness and discomfort, delicacy and emotional intensity. Her practice invites reflection on what it means to inhabit the body and navigate human relationships in contemporary life.
Her work has been exhibited in institutions and galleries across Spain, including Casal Solleric, La Térmica and is part of collections such as Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson and the McMullen Museum of Art, Boston College, Studiolo Foundation, KELLS Art Collection among others.
