Göthman
Lukas Göthman, born in 1970 in Sweden, lives and works in Stockholm. Göthman’s artistic practice centres on a series of journeys and selected realities experienced first hand or constructed through fiction and dreams. His works often incorporate text: short stories, titles or repeated phrases used to create abstract compositions. Göthman explores the visual effect of words and letters, building evocative visual compositions phrase by phrase against monochromatic colour backgrounds. Through a simple set of self imposed rules, he generates curves and impressions of varying levels of depth.
Other bodies of work investigate the landscape, creating dreamlike illusions. They emerge from the artist’s intimate world of thoughts and emotions, into which the viewer is drawn through the intensity of his colour palette and the expressive texts present in his works. His acclaimed work forms part of numerous collections and has been exhibited in several countries.
