Blanco
Mai Blanco (Asturias, Spain, 1982) is a Spanish artist based in Barcelona. Her artistic training began at the School of Arts and Crafts in Oviedo in 2002 and culminated with her graduation from the University of Fine Arts of Barcelona in 2009.
Blanco describes her work as deeply personal and emerging through the creative process itself, without preconceived ideas. Her works develop a narrative that reflects her inner search for meaning. Although she does not consider herself a conceptual artist, her finished pieces encapsulate concepts that speak to her personal experience and to the present moment.
Her introspective approach addresses universal questions about the purpose of life and the destiny of humanity, creating works that invite a broad and universal reading. Blanco draws inspiration from revered artists such as Bonet, Botticelli, Rubens, Pierre Bonnard, Jean Dubuffet, Georg Baselitz, Alice Neel, Pablo Picasso and Cecily Brown.
