Long

Xinyu Long's artistic practice explores the dual themes of 'Wildness' and 'Maternal' to examine contemporary female identity. Drawing from her formative environment and 'departure' experiences during studies in London, the artist integrates visually primal / spiritual subjects into her work, revealing nuanced relationships between humans and beasts, humans and nature/climate, and humans and surreal creatures — thereby positioning and liberating personal identity. Her narrative compositions frame these symbiotic interactions as dialogues between the artist and herself.

Additionally, Long's pictorial materials derive from ephemeral moments captured during travels. She seeks to obscure the possessed human consciousness and pre-existing selfhood in her creations, merging perception with the natural world to beckon viewers 'back to nature and wilderness'.
