Schweiger

Zoe Schweiger is a painter born and based in Miami, Florida. She received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland in 2022. Schweiger primarily makes figurative paintings of her loved ones distorted within a warm and saturated environment. She paints with a sense of urgency, distorting and blurring her subjects, mirroring the fluidity of her queer experience in a world increasingly defined by rising temperatures and environmental fragility. Schweiger has exhibited her work in a number of solo exhibitions, including Sun-Kissed at Mindy Solomon Gallery, Miami, FL; When the Air Sticks and the Current Gathers at Expo Chicago with Mindy Solomon Gallery; Above The Limestone at NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Under Warm Water at Spinello Projects in Miami, Florida. She has also been included in exhibitions internationally such as Art021 Shanghai with Latitude Gallery; The Armory Show with Spinello Projects; In Spiritual Light at Mindy Solomon Gallery; and Narration Within the Materials at T&Y Projects. Schweiger has received numerous awards and grants, including The Hopper Prize, Innovate Grant, and Miami Individual Artists (MIA) Grant and her work is in the permanent collection of The NSU Art Museum, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
