Mira MAdrid / 2 Mira Archiv
Madrid
In this new edition of CAN Art Fair, 1 Mira Madrid / 2 Mira Archiv presents a solo project by the British artist Hamish Fulton, featuring his small scale constructions in carved, painted and inscribed wood, alongside paintings and black and white photographs accompanied by text.
However, the aim is not only to present Fulton’s work individually, but also to establish a dialogue between his practice and that of other artists represented by the gallery. A first dialogue emerges between Fulton and Juan Uslé: while Fulton sometimes refers to the steps he takes barefoot in the places where he has camped, Uslé connects his brushstrokes to the rhythm of his heartbeat. Ultimately, it is the combination of two physical impulses of the human body.
The other two dialogues are established between Fulton and the Spanish artists Chema López and Alain Urrutia, who will open their first exhibition at 1 Mira Madrid next September, coinciding with Apertura Madrid 2026. The connection between the works of Fulton, Urrutia and López is based on thematic affinity: their works feature elements linked to landscape, including mountains, traces of paths, clouds and animals, establishing a direct relationship with the historical and conceptual trajectory of the British artist.
