29.05 - 28.06.2026

Ana Grajales will present To Exist is to Transit as part of the OFF Program of CAN Art Fair Ibiza 2026 at Five Flowers Formentera Meliá Collection. Since 2022, this initiative has promoted the work of Balearic artists through exhibitions held across the Pityusic Islands, between Ibiza and Formentera, with the support of Paya Hotels.

To Exist is to Transit

As a species, we are traces in constant motion, searching for something as simple and radical as belonging. Transhumance appears here as an invisible route shaped not by borders, but by cycles seeking regeneration through the search for place.

This exhibition translates that impulse into the artistic realm through a textile cartography that invites contemplation and reflection on the construction of identity and existence. The work emerges from a geographical and emotional intersection, where the artist, Uruguayan by birth and based in Mallorca, intertwines fibres from both territories in search of a new language of belonging, creating living memories that give rise to a unique visual vocabulary.

The exhibition proposes a visual journey through organic topographies that emerge to reflect on cycles and permanence, on the traces we leave upon the land and those it leaves upon us. It is a blurred boundary that acknowledges our condition as beings in a constant state of transition.

Ana Grajales develops her artistic practice in Mallorca, where she explores the organic memory of natural fibres, particularly wool. Her work centres on the conscious transformation of material, using the loom to reinterpret ancestral weaving techniques within a contemporary context.

Through an in-depth material investigation, she seeks moments of contemplation and the radical honesty found in the poetry of everyday life. Her work deconstructs form in pursuit of an essential sculptural language, creating structures that function as physical records of territory and emotion. Each piece becomes a contemplative journey that seeks to capture the essence of time and the beauty of what is fundamental.

For the fourth consecutive year, Paya Hotels reaffirms its strong commitment to Balearic artistic creation and to strengthening the visibility of the local cultural sector through its support of the OFF CAN 2026 Program. This initiative not only promotes Balearic talent, but also seeks to connect Ibiza and Formentera through contemporary art.
