Catalina Julve & Federica Furbelli
29.05 - 28.06.2026
Catalina Julve and Federica Furbelli will present Belonging at Faro de ses Coves Blanques in Sant Antoni de Portmany as part of the OFF Program of CAN Art Fair 2026. Since 2022, this initiative has promoted the work of Balearic artists through exhibitions held across the Pityusic Islands, between Formentera and Ibiza, with the support of Paya Hotels and the collaboration of the municipalities of Ibiza, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Santa Eulària des Riu and AISME.
Belonging
At the geographical threshold of Faro de ses Coves Blanques, the exhibition by Federica Furbelli and Catalina Julve takes shape as an exploration of the notion of the “non-place” and the ongoing search for origins. Through a dialogue between construction and dissolution, both artists investigate how we inhabit space and how space, in turn, inhabits us.
Federica Furbelli presents architecture as a symbol of fragility. Her minimal structures and earthy landscapes evoke the nostalgia of a primordial home, a refuge that seems perpetually on the verge of being reclaimed by nature.
Meanwhile, Catalina Julve releases the body from its rigidity, integrating it into a fluid and atmospheric environment. In her work, identity dissolves into vibrant brushstrokes, suggesting that our true origin is not a fixed point on a map, but rather a state of communion with our surroundings.
Together, the artists transform the lighthouse into a territory of transition. Between the solidity of Furbelli’s shelter and the fluidity of Julve’s waters, the exhibition invites visitors to question their own attachments and to recognise themselves in the beauty of the ephemeral.
For the fourth consecutive year, Paya Hotels reaffirms its strong commitment to Balearic artistic creation and to strengthening the visibility of the local cultural sector through its support of the OFF CAN 2026 Program. This initiative not only promotes Balearic talent, but also seeks to connect Ibiza and Formentera through contemporary art.

Catalina Julve
Julve is a self taught multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Mallorca. Her inspiration emerges from the world around her: landscape, photography, cinema and art history. Initially rooted in the realism afforded by traditional painting techniques, her practice has evolved through the incorporation of disciplines such as installation, drawing and printmaking, through which she has developed a language that moves towards neo expressionism and minimalism.
Her material research is ongoing, finding in oil paint, graphite, wax and printmaking inks the physicality she seeks. Julve focuses on the study of the human condition, historical events and the relationship with territory. Her work stems from her personal experience of the places she inhabits. More recently, she has turned her attention to the reality that surrounds her and to the landscape, synthesizing narratives connected to the trace of human presence on the land.
Federica Furbelli
Federica Furbelli (1988, Varese, Italy) is a visual artist based in Mallorca whose practice reflects on psychogeography and drifting as tools for developing a deeper relationship with landscape and environment. Walking, sailing and slow travel become artistic and spiritual acts that resist contemporary immediacy and encourage mindfulness, generating sensory spaces conceived as offerings that invite presence and a return to what is essential.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions, including Banana Joe (Malpaís, Barcelona), as well as exhibitions at Piramidón (Barcelona), kulturundgut (Hamburg) and Weissraum Design Forum (Innsbruck). She has also undertaken residencies at Piramidón (Barcelona), Fresco (Madrid) and Konvent0 (Berga), and has created murals both in Spain and internationally. Her work has been recognized with several first prize awards.
