Public Art "El procés creatiu al Baix Camp" by Oriol Enguany

25.06 - 28.06.2026

Once again, CAN Art Fair brings art into the public space. On this occasion, Oriol Enguany and Mayoral will present one of the Catalan artist’s works at the entrance of the fair.

Oriol Enguany’s sculptures are the direct outcome of a creative process deeply rooted in the physical and conceptual landscape of the Baix Camp region. Working from the rawness and freedom of a rural studio, his practice draws on a visceral, telluric energy in which industrial materials, reclaimed wood, polystyrene and pure pigments merge to give shape to contemporary totems of remarkable expressive power.

His process in Baix Camp does not pursue refinement, but rather the authenticity of gesture. Enguany works through assemblage and accumulation, allowing error, accident and the layering of surfaces to guide the evolution of each piece. There is an intimate connection between the textured geography of the territory and the rough, tactile presence of his artistic creatures.

The works selected for Can Ibiza move between the flat plane of painting and the solid presence of free standing sculpture. These anthropomorphic figures shift between the playful, the monstrous and the primal. Built through raw textures and a vibrant use of colour, the pieces now travel from the shelter of the Tarragona countryside to the Mediterranean light of Ibiza, becoming part of the public space as a celebration of art brut, instinct and the resilience of matter.
