"Blau/Blava" at Estudi Tur Costa
19.06 - 01.10.2026
Estudi Tur Costa presents Blau / Blava, a group exhibition featuring artists from Ibiza or closely connected to the islands such as Stella Rahola Matutes, Gilbert Herreyns, Laura de Grinyo, Aina Albo Puigserver and Bonet Vallribera, among others. The opening will take place on June 19, and the exhibition will be on view until September, with visits on Thursday afternoons or by appointment.
The exhibition takes as its starting point a reflection on the color blue and its cultural construction, in dialogue with the ideas developed by Michel Pastoureau. While in Western tradition blue did not always hold a central place, in Ibiza it asserts itself as a physical reality: sky and sea define the experience of the territory and have shaped an imaginary associated with calm, spirituality and infinity.
The exhibition is structured around two main axes. On the one hand, blue as matter, understood as light, vibration and physical presence that transforms space and activates a direct experience of color. On the other, blue as a symbolic construction, linked to states of contemplation and to repetitive processes in which time and gesture generate sustained attention.
Building on these ideas, Blau / Blava also introduces a reflection on the act of naming. If color needed to be incorporated into language in order to exist culturally, the present opens up questions about what still remains outside the narrative. The territory is understood here not only as landscape, but also as a system shaped by dynamics of production, consumption and transformation, thus expanding the reading of blue beyond its aesthetic dimension.
CAN Local is an initiative by CAN Art Fair Ibiza designed to highlight the cultural, artistic and exhibition projects taking place across the island during the fair, helping to connect and strengthen Ibiza’s cultural ecosystem. The promotion of the CAN Local program is supported by Ocean Drive Talamanca.
