elrow x Daniel Popper
25.06 - 28.06.2026
In its fifth edition, CAN Art Fair expands its boundaries and explores new territories of exchange between disciplines through an unprecedented collaboration with elrow and the South African artist Daniel Popper. Conceived as a two part project, the collaboration connects the exhibition space of the fair with some of the cultural languages that have helped define the island’s contemporary identity.
The project revolves around BhÅ«tarÄh, a visual universe developed by Daniel Popper for elrow that inhabits a territory between the organic and the mythological, between monumental sculpture and immersive experience. As part of this collaboration, CAN Ibiza will present a selection of large scale sculptures alongside sketches, plans and working materials that offer insight into the artist’s creative process and reveal how an idea gradually transforms into a physical experience.
The project will continue beyond the fair itself. Following the close of CAN Ibiza, the sculptures will become part of a monumental intervention at UNVRS, extending the project into a new context and establishing a dialogue between the contemplative nature of the exhibition space and the collective intensity of the club environment.
Through this collaboration, CAN Art Fair Ibiza reaffirms its commitment to exploring the many ways contemporary art engages with the cultural context that surrounds it. On an island historically shaped by the convergence of disciplines, sensibilities and creative communities, the project proposes a reflection on Ibiza as a space of exchange, experimentation and encounter, where the boundaries between different languages become increasingly porous.
Founded in 2010 by Cruz and Juan Arnau, elrow is a global immersive entertainment platform that has developed its own distinctive language through electronic music, scenography and artistic direction. This collaboration with CAN Art and Daniel Popper makes it possible to present that creative dimension within an exhibition context, extending the life of BhÅ«tarÄh beyond the dance floor.

Daniel Popper
Daniel Popper, born in South Africa in 1983, is a multidisciplinary artist renowned for his monumental sculptures that merge the organic spirit of nature with the imaginative essence of the divine. His visionary, large-scale figures, crafted from materials like wood, fiberglass, and Fiber Glass Reinforced Cement (FGRC), evoke a sense of the sacred and transcendental.
Popper’s work transforms public and private spaces into surreal environments, inviting viewers to engage with hybrid entities that blend elements of nature and humanity. These sculptures often serve as stages, gateways, or chapels at major art and music festivals such as Afrikaburn, Boom Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Electric Forest. His installations at Morton Arboretum and EJI’s New Freedom Monument Sculpture Park in Montgomery, Alabama, carry on this tradition, forging a connection between viewers and the restorative power of nature.
His art, which includes both permanent and temporary works across the USA and Croatia, reflects an ecological aesthetic that emphasizes harmony with the environment rather than dominance. Popper’s creations invite contemplation, blending the material with the numinous, and often feature illuminating projections that enhance their mystical quality. These elemental monuments, whether enduring or ephemeral, serve as totems for reflection and connection, encapsulating a profound interplay between art, nature, and the human spirit.
