Kathryn Garcia at Sa Penya

Portals de Feixa Cultural Association presents OFRENDA, an exhibition by Kathryn Garcia, curated by Sarvia Jasso and developed in collaboration with Liam Aldous. Through video, sculpture, and installation, the artist transforms a historic space in Sa Penya into a site dedicated to memory, ritual, and connection with the deepest layers of Ibiza’s history. A portion of the exhibition’s proceeds will support the cultural regeneration work carried out by the association in the neighbourhood.

The exhibition takes as its starting point the ancient Phoenician cisterns located beneath the building, understood as material traces of a cosmology linked to the sacred nature of water and the worship of Tanit, the principal Phoenician-Punic deity associated with Ibiza. From this context, Garcia develops an installation that explores the relationships between territory, ancestral memory, and devotional practices, establishing a dialogue between past and present.

At the centre of the exhibition is the screening of She Changes Everything She Touches and Everything She Touches Changes (2023), a work filmed across various locations in Ibiza and Menorca. Rather than functioning as a documentary record, the piece is presented as an offering and a reflection on the persistence of certain spiritual imaginaries within the Mediterranean landscape.

OFRENDA proposes a reading of Sa Penya as a territory where multiple historical layers continue to coexist. Through installation, video, and the symbolic activation of space, the exhibition invites visitors to reconsider the relationships between memory, place, and cultural heritage, recovering narratives that have remained hidden or been relegated over time.
