Sometimes changes are not sought out: they simply happen. Because they make sense. Because they were necessary.
After 10 years of history in Madrid, and coinciding with the closing of the 4th edition of CAN Ibiza Art Fair on the island, we feel that the time has come to take another step forward. UVNT Art Fair (Urvanity Art) is transforming into CAN Madrid Art Fair, with both fairs coming together under the same brand: Contemporary Art Now.
A new name to continue being what we always were: a bold, curious, and lively fair. But also to grow. To break new ground alongside those who have already grown with us. After years of evolution, of dialogue with artists, galleries, and audiences who look to the present with a hunger for the future, we felt it was time to take the next step. And that step made sense if we took it together: Ibiza and Madrid, sun and moon under the same sky. Contemporary Art Now is no longer just a project that takes place on the island; now it also beats in the heart of the Spanish capital.
If in Ibiza art opens up to the sun, to desire, to celebration, in Madrid art delves into the depths, into the emotional, into the urgent. CAN Ibiza is the sun, CAN Madrid is the moon: intuition, transformation, inner drive. The place where strange dreams take shape. Where what seems invisible gains strength.
We are the same, but different.
We continue to believe in art that is born of the present moment. In new languages, in aesthetics that break the mold, in visual culture that doesn’t ask permission and shakes us up. We continue to support artists and galleries that take risks, that get involved, that don’t settle for the status quo. But now, we do so under a name that unites us: Contemporary Art Now.
During Madrid Art Week, and from our headquarters in Matadero Madrid, we are opening a space to share national and international proposals that explore new narratives, voices, and ways of seeing. With a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and sustainability in the artistic ecosystem, and with the intention of reinforcing our role as ambassadors of a city that cultivates its cultural scene throughout the year, attracting diverse audiences open to discovery.
We want you to come and see, but also to feel. To let yourself be carried away by the unexpected. To discover. To collect. To ask questions.
Because art doesn’t wait. It happens now. And so do we.
