Claire Witteveen (b. 1983, Naarden) is a Dutch artist whose paintings move between abstraction and figuration. Working primarily in oil on canvas and linen, she approaches painting as a deeply personal and reflective process in which each work becomes a way of thinking through emotion, tension and experience. Her compositions bring together abstract forms, everyday objects and architectural elements, allowing atmosphere and meaning to emerge gradually. Rather than illustrating a fixed narrative, Witteveen’s work explores how painting can hold both intuition and structure, and how imagery can make space for honesty, ambiguity and resolution.
