Willem
van Hooff
Willem van Hooff (1992, Eindhoven) explores the potential of forgotten techniques, materials, and products in his work. By giving these overlooked stories a new context, he creates objects that bring together craftsmanship, materiality, and character. His approach is intuitive and raw, allowing the materials themselves to play an active role in the creative process.
For Van Hooff, a successful object consists of three essential elements: a mind, a body, and a soul. It must function well, possess a strong visual presence, and, above all, have character. This search for soul and individuality, qualities he believes are often lost in the perfection of mass production, lies at the heart of his practice.
