Laust Højgaard (*1989, DK) is a visual artist whose works are based around conflicted outsiders and other misfits who represents a surreal version of reality. Laust likes to think of it as a portrait series - whereby the personality of the characters affects the process of creating paintings, defining textures, strokes and surfaces. Laust’s approach is impulsive, working directly on the canvas from imagination. Building layers with semi-dried paint to create depth and intriguing details, his work captivates and draws the eye. Laust lives and works in Svendborg, Denmark.

He graduated in 2006 from the Odense Designacademie, Denmark, in 2008 from The Drawing Academy, Viborg (DK), in the class of Artem Alexeev, as well as in 2012 from the Danish School of Media and Journalism.
