ALICIA MARTIN LOPEZ, born in 1982 in Plasencia (Spain), holds a Master of Fine Arts degree with a specialization in both digital and traditional painting from the School of Visual Arts in New York, where she studied on a Fulbright Scholarship. Her work centers on the material world and its various states of transformation. She uses painting as a tool to investigate and integrate multiple techniques into her creative process, layering materials to form complex hybrid structures that sit halfway between collage and sculpture. In her images, volumetric forms converge to suggest figuration within abstraction, allowing the pictorial surface to develop its own narrative. Concepts such as change, evolution, and entropy are fundamental to her projects.
