Fermín Moreno Martín holds a degree in Fine Arts, specialising in Painting, from the University of the Basque Country. He completed part of his studies at Wimbledon School of Art through the Erasmus programme (1995) and subsequently undertook doctoral studies during the 1995–97 biennium (UPV/EHU). He continued his training through workshops at various institutions with Peter Jones, Guillermo Pérez Villalta, Markus Lüpertz, Manolo Valdés, Juan Uslé, Fernando Castro Flórez, Fernando Sinaga and Malus Arbide. He has also taught as a guest artist in the Painting Master’s programmes at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UPV/EHU (Leioa) in 2011, 2017 and 2020.
In 1996, Fermín Moreno Martín was one of the founders of the self-managed space Espacio Abisal, where he played an active role in management and coordination during its first five years of programming.
His practice reflects on painting through hands-on experimentation, exploring processes of hybridisation with other artistic disciplines. His work operates on the premise of expanding the medium, articulated through painterly sedimentation, feedback from synthetic imagery, and an installation-based approach.
