Munroe

Galina Munroe (b. 1993) is a French British artist based in London. Her work is articulated primarily through painting, a medium she uses to explore the relationship between the body, the self and the objects that accompany everyday life.

Her practice has evolved from vibrant floral compositions toward a more complex dialogue between still life and the figure. Flowers remain present in her work, not as the central subject, but as silent companions to the hand, the body and the gestures of making. Through these shifting arrangements, Munroe reflects on intimacy, work and self observation, examining how seemingly simple actions such as carrying, touching or arranging objects reveal a deep, personal symbolic charge, to the point of functioning as a form of portraiture.

Since returning to London in 2025, her paintings have delved further into the experience of the body and its material presence. Bags, tools and gathered objects appear alongside fragments of human figures, tracing a life that unfolds between home and studio. In this new body of work, the floral motif persists, not as ornament but as a presence that evokes care, continuity and growth.

Munroe’s work has been exhibited internationally, with solo shows at JARILAGER Gallery in Cologne and Seoul, PIERMARQ in Sydney, BRICKS Gallery in Copenhagen, UNION Gallery in London, COUNTY Gallery in Palm Beach and Gallery RPH in Madrid.
