GVIEE
GVIIIE was born in the Madrid neighbourhood of Prosperidad and has been drawing for as long as he can remember. He quickly abandoned formal drawing classes but not the tools themselves, which he continued to use daily in an informal, self taught way. As a teenager he began painting graffiti. He later studied a mid level degree at Escuela de Arte 10 after not being admitted to Fine Arts, a moment that led him to suspend his artistic activity for a time.
In 2013 he completed his film studies at the University of the Arts London and returned to Madrid. There he reconnected with walls and began to develop his “neo cave” style, although without yet establishing a stable working discipline. At the same time, he collaborated with the satirical newspaper Mongolia under the pseudonym Guille Joder, and his animated short Abayomi was preselected for the Goya Awards. He combines his work in comics and graphic novels with occasional jobs ranging from video editing at TVE to art direction at ELLE España.
