Helen Bur is a British artist based in London. A leading urban muralist, she has been creating large scale works around the world for several years. In her public interventions, Bur addresses social issues that are always closely connected to the contemporary history of the place where she paints. Her canvases, produced in temporary studios where she works between travels, likewise explore questions rooted in contemporary social narratives. Her work is marked by a compelling realist style, rich in texture and expressiveness. Her figures, often shown in motion and captured mid action, have the power to establish an immediate connection with the viewer.

Trained in Fine Arts at Cardiff School of Art, she founded and co curated “The Abacus”. Her work has been exhibited in Madrid, London, Berlin, Los Angeles and São Paulo, among other cities. She has taken part in numerous urban art festivals, including the prestigious Nuart in Stavanger (Norway), Upeart in Finland, Beyond Walls in the United States, Urban Vision Festival in Italy, Kufa’s Urban Art in Luxembourg, the project I Be Lady O in Senegal and Start India in Mumbai, to name just a few of the most recent.
