Pérez Curiel

Javier R. Pérez-Curiel works with sculpture, installation, and performance through a situated practice that responds to the spatial conditions and habitual uses of each context. His work is structured around the standardization of everyday forms and functions, understanding materials and devices as infrastructures that organize behavior.

His practice operates site-specifically, engaging with the elements available in each space and shifting their conventional functions toward sculptural and performative configurations. Coming from a background in musical practices and DJing, he incorporates notions of rhythm, listening, and temporality into his work. He holds a PhD in Fine Arts and is currently in his second year at the Dutch Art Institute (DAI).
