Jordi Ribes (Barcelona, 1972) works on an ambiguous threshold between the digital and the painterly. Using oil paint in an unconventional way —applied as a polished, almost synthetic surface— and a palette of electric colours, he constructs seemingly fantastical scenes where the naïve verges on the perverse and the familiar turns uncanny.

He has had solo exhibitions at Galería Senda and L21, and has taken part in group shows at Palais de Tokyo, Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Arts Santa Mònica, Galería Lelong and Tecla Sala. A recipient of the Altadis Prize, his work is held in collections such as CA2M, Fundación Altadis, Fundación Vila Casas, Recharge Foundation, Victoria Collection and Ding Yi Xiao-Xiao Foundation.
