Karine Hoffman is a French Polish artist who graduated from the École des Beaux Arts in Paris and was a resident at the Casa de Velázquez from 2002 to 2004. Influenced by twentieth century German painting, her work weaves subtle references to Eastern European literature and fantasy cinema. Featured in numerous public and private collections, most recently at MOCO in Montpellier, Hoffman’s painting offers a reflection on the force of memory and the traces it leaves behind.
