Fukumoto

Kenichiro Fukumoto was born in 1986 in Hiroshima, Japan, and received his MFA from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2014. He currently lives and works in Tokyo. His major exhibitions include “project N: Kenichiro Fukumoto" (Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery, Tokyo, 2025), "Fragments of the Earth," curated by AKIINOUE (NANZUKA 2G, Tokyo, 2023), "Vessels and Fragments of the Earth" (SFT Gallery, The National Art Center, Tokyo, 2020), "3331 Art Fair" (Blum & Poe, Tokyo, 2019), and "Scenery Poem: Kenichiro Fukumoto & Stephen Wong" (Project Fulfill Art Space, Taipei, 2017). Inspired by natural phenomena such as water ripples, geological layers, cell division and fusion, and airborne spores, as well as by time-worn artifacts like fossils and ancient vessels, Fukumoto's work explores the cycles of life, energy, and light. Recently, he has expanded his practice beyond oil painting and drawing to include sculptures that combine wood carving and ceramics, adding new dimensions to his ongoing exploration of these enduring themes.
