Sándor
Körei Sándor (1995, Mór, Hungary) currently lives and works in Budapest, where he has his studio. His practice unfolds through what he calls “living sculpture”. In his series Preserved Still Lifes, he explores everyday situations by arranging objects inside glass boxes, creating a transparent coordinate system.
In these works, the artist analyses and reinterprets the still life tradition, fusing painting with contemporary sculpture. In his most recent pieces, he arranges cut flowers and vases in ordered structures, enclosing them in custom-made containers that not only echo the strict composition of traditional still lifes but also reflect the duality between the beauty and decay inherent to flowers. For Körei, time plays a central role, since each work continues to change after its completion. The creative process thus remains open, allowing viewers to witness its ongoing transformation.
