Franquelo Giner

Manuel Franquelo Giner (Madrid, 1990) is an artist who lives and works in Madrid. His practice is grounded in contributing, through contemporary artistic approaches, to the field of Animal Visual Studies, a branch of cultural criticism that explores visualities between humans and non human animals from aesthetic, ethical and political perspectives.

His work is driven by a desire to think about and question the forms of exploitation, oppression and violence that non human animals suffer in different areas such as the food industry, scientific research, entertainment and domestic life.

Franquelo Giner studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he is currently also pursuing a degree in Philosophy. He was recently awarded the Circuitos de Artes Plásticas 2023 grant and the 2024 Visual Arts Production Grant by the Community of Madrid. His work has been exhibited at public institutions such as Centro de Arte Alcobendas and Conde Duque, and is held in private collections including DKV, Pilar Citoler and Josep Maria Civit, as well as in contemporary art museums such as CAC Málaga. He is currently represented by Twin Gallery in Madrid, Spain, and works as Lead Digital Restorer at Factum Foundation for the conservation and preservation of cultural heritage.
