Thorben Eggers was, born in Flensburgin 1988, is an artist based in Hamburg and Tokyo. He combines traditional oil painting with digital image processing, creating new visual effects through techniques such as AI-based photo manipulation. Eggers is fascinated by the transformation of images into abstract forms through digital errors, exploring surreal realism. His work involves simulated spaces and landscapes edited in 3D programs, drawing inspiration from advertising portraits and magazines. Through this, he challenges the concepts of painting and simulation in the digital age.

In his current paintings he is discovering books, magazine or artistic ukiyoe prints as a prototype of reproduction as an inspirations source. He is interestied in digital simulations of magazine, although as analog paper, to transform e.g Japanese landscapes to an abstract composition.
