Gabinete
de dibujos
València, Spain
El Gabinete de Dibujos is an art gallery devoted to contemporary drawing, understood in the broadest possible sense, without technical or material limitations. Drawing is conceived as a powerful medium for reflecting on the challenges of today’s world and for raising questions that affect us as a species, as a society, and as individuals. It is also understood as a fundamental tool for the conceptualization, composition, and creation of artistic work.
One of the gallery’s core aims is to act as a mediator and communicator of its artists’ ideas and practices, particularly in the conception, planning, and production of each exhibition’s installation and staging. This process is carried out in close collaboration with each artist, always through dialogue and shared decision-making as ideas evolve and challenges arise.
El Gabinete de Dibujos has been based in Valencia since 2020, presenting approximately four to five exhibitions per year in its space. It has taken part in international art fairs such as Drawing Room Madrid ’21, UVNT ’22, ARTESANTANDER ’24, and UVNT ’25.
Since 2021, it has been a member of the Consortium of Contemporary Art Galleries and of LAVAC. Over the five years it has participated in Abierto Valencia, the annual opening event for the Valencian gallery season, the gallery has received the Best Exhibition Award from the Generalitat Valenciana on three occasions: in 2021 for Santiago Talavera’s exhibition El pasado habrá sido un planeta extraño; in 2023 for Tania Blanco’s Incautaciones. 36 sueños de una noche de verano; and in 2025 for Grabados de domingo by José Antonio Suárez Londoño, presented in collaboration with Bernalespacio. The juries for these awards have included figures such as Núria Enguita, Sonia Martínez, Lorena Martínez de Corral, Àngels Miralda, Julia Molandeira, Tania Pardo, José Luis Pérez Pont, Agustín Pérez Rubio, Lourdes Ramos, Guillermo Solana, and Blanca de la Torre.
The team at El Gabinete de Dibujos is led by Consuelo Vento Martí (Valencia, 1969), who holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and Luis Urdampilleta (Tandil, 1964), trained in architecture and with more than thirty-five years of experience in framing, conservation, and art production at GRIS, a specialized framing studio.
