Special project
Transformation and Innovation, together with design and cutting edge technology form the key values of the IQOS brand. This year IQOS sponsors Urvanity 2019’s Solo Shows and the Special Project by Okuda San Miguel. A space focused on the most innovative and disruptive artistic trends. The result are styles and languages which are the outcome of the union of street art and the academic and which today are the reference of the contemporary actuality.
‘The Rainbow Mountains‘ by Okuda San Miguel supposes to a certain extent a return to his most surrealist style. Inspired in his mural “The secret mountain” (Crans Montana, Switzerland. 2015), the artist combines some of his most habitual themes (human and nature, liberty, metamorphosis…) with the ideas of his last works (idyllic places, mutant creatures, dystopias…). A Solo Show that invites us to submerge ourselves in the universe of Okuda.

OKUDA
Born in Santander in 1980, he now resides in Madrid where he also has his studio. His singular language based on icons and multicolored patterns, which we can find in the streets of a good part of the world, converted him in one of the most known artists of today. His works often question the contradictions of a false liberty and the conflict between modernity and our roots.
“Two maxims direct my trajectory artistically and personally: positivism and the effort of self-overcoming. I’m moved by the passion to create; I need to create to be happy and feel fulfilled, and with my works I try to give place to small improvements. Travelling, getting to know new worlds and people, transforming these spaces with my art, leaving a part of me in them, that’s what makes me get up every day. Because Art, a part of breaking the barriers between cultures and religions, is made for feeling it (…)”
