Pastomas

Claudia Pastomás studied Fine Arts and has recently completed a Master’s degree in Artistic Production at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Her artistic practice is grounded in painting and installation. Her work foregrounds the processes of artistic media that have been historically sidelined, engaging with residue, limits, and materiality itself in order to explore how paradigms of commodity production have shifted. Through this approach, she reconstructs relationships between forms, materials, and the obsolete, examining how these elements are reactivated in the present. This line of research and artistic production is driven by the search for new perceptual frameworks that revisit and reinterpret traditional cabinetmaking practices.

She has been awarded the Best Emerging Artist prize by Mango and a residency prize at Piramidón at SWAB Barcelona, presented by Vangar. She has also received the grant from the 2nd Open Call of the Bodegas Faustino & Willy Ramos Chair with a residency in Paris, the First Prize at the International Art Competition of the Salvador Victoria Foundation, and a scholarship from the Antoni Miró Chair of Contemporary Art.

Her solo exhibitions include Coraza y Ornamento at Espacio Saceca, Sagunto; Atractores extraños, as part of the Contemporary Artistic Creation Prize at Espacio de Creación Quart de Poblet; and Contra-Desborde at Espacio Algo Algo, Valencia. She has also participated in group exhibitions such as Apenas Gestos at Galería Art Nueve, Murcia; ANTI PETRA at COAM (Official College of Architects of Madrid); Generación Z at WeCollect Gallery, Madrid; Cuadernos de… at Arniches 26 Gallery, Madrid; Artists’ Book Present, a printmaking-based exhibition at Za Szklem Gallery, Warsaw; and PAMPAM23 at the Reales Atarazanas del Grau, Valencia.

Over the past year, she has taken part in the institutional exhibition Miradas Abiertas at the Centre del Carme, Valencia, as part of Abierto Valencia 2024, and presented the solo exhibition Repols at the Chirivella Soriano Foundation, following her First Prize in the Sala d’Arcs open call.
