Daniel Hölzl develops a practice centered on site-specific installations made from recycled materials, some of which transform autonomously during the exhibition, challenging notions of continuity and the tendency to fetishize permanence. By working with carefully selected and locally sourced resources such as recycled carbon fiber from the German aerospace industry and reused paraffin wax, his installations highlight interlaced timescales, the carbon cycle, and the endless potential of matter while inviting viewers to reconsider the role of monuments, the relationship between landscape and object, and their own connection to the environment. Through immersive experiences that generate subtle perceptual shifts, his research addresses transience, the impact of human actions on the environment, sustainability, and the layers of personal history that emerge when reflecting on temporality and contemporary cycles.
