Murashkina
Nina Murashkina is a multi-disciplinary Ukrainian artist currently based in Spain. Murashkina’s vivid aesthetic is influenced by Ukrainian naive art, Indian and Japanese imagery, as well as ancient mythology. She describes her own artwork as “the delicious details from the Subconscious and the extreme limits allowed in social relations.” Her goddess-like heroines embody the dual nature of the woman: lustful and innocent, provocative and tender, brutally honest and darkly mysterious. “For me, the essence of creativity lies in storytelling, in crafting narratives where all characters are interconnected and live their lives within the story's framework. I forget my own myth, a world teeming with Eros and Thanatos. Magical feminism shapes my worldview. I interpret reality through my own lens and recreate it in my artworks. The central figure is a woman—a potent force, a triumphant deity who can ride animals, wise men, or even the entire world. This portrayal of women, to me, embodies feminism, infused with magic that amplifies feminine qualities from a mythical perspective".
Collaboration: La princesa
As part of her multidisciplinary practice, Nina Murashkina has been developing a sculptural collaboration since 2018 with Catalan artist Xavier Escala. Together, they explore the concept of the divine within the human being through a series of works that merge Murashkina’s mythological, feminine universe with Escala’s mastery of traditional sculptural techniques.
The Princess is a wood and ceramic sculpture born from this dialogue between materials, symbolism, and craftsmanship. The piece embodies a goddess-like feminine presence — powerful, tender, and mysterious — echoing Murashkina’s recurring heroines while grounded in Escala’s refined approach to form and texture.
